- A grassland species with a fondness for purple flowers.
- Has expanded its range dramatically over the last 20 years, indeed the rapid spread may only have started around 2011.
Traditionally concentrated on downland from Hampshire to Somerset, it is now found throughout southern England and into Yorkshire and Lancashire.
- Larvae feed on various grasses, including red fescue, sheep's fescue, timothy, cock's foot and tor grass.
