Flowers - Lobelia

Lobelias are annuals. These started flowering in late May.

Lobelias are bedding plants, or raised from seed. They are usually blue - pale blue or a rich dark blue. However, there is a version called "String of pearl" which looks multi-coloured (see photo). It isn't. Every plant has a single coloured colour (with maybe a ddash of white). But lobelia seed is very small, almost like dust, and it's usual to leave several lobelia plants to germinate, and grow, together. The "String of pearl" has different coloured plants, various blues and pink, which, since they're grown together, look like one multi-coloured plant. Which is pretty!
