Vegetables - Runner bean
Runner bean are sown or planted out, after the last frost. I bought these seedlings and planted them late May, so I don't have any photo of the seeds. They are big, like other bean seeds, such as French beans or Borlotti beans
Runner beans need support. A good support is three long bamboos, tied at the top. The plants can climb the poles, it doesn't take up much room, and it's fairly stable. You may need to nip off the bean plants as they get to the top!
Pick the beans when young. They get stringy and unpleasant as they get older.
