Comments:
In 1871, both Martha and John are adult, unmarried and living at home. (John dies in 1876 - see Probates connected with Richard Beddome).
Florence Charlesworth is also there, whether living with them or on a visit. She doesn't have anyone else from her family with her.
In these census records, there are four or five servants. In "Memories of Childhood and Girlhood" by Maud Ballington Booth, it says that her family had ten servants while in Limpsfield, a rural parish, but this dropped to five when they moved to Limehouse, London, and that included two servants looking after the children. Maud also describes her grandfather, Richard Beddome, as "wealthy and very generous to all his children and grandchildren". There are two grooms in Richard Beddome's household at different times. They come from Limpsfield, the original parish of his son-in-law Rev. Samuel Charlesworth. He was rector there in 1857, when he married Maria Beddome. They moved to Limehouse around 1869.
See Probates connected with Richard Beddome for his personal estate at death.
