Leicester has good museums! The Leicester Museum & Art Gallery is the largest.

53 New Walk, Leicester LE1 7EA - Website - free to enter, open 7 days a week. Galleries include Ancient Egypt, Dinosaurs, Wild Space, Leicester Stories Gallery, the Victorian Art Gallery, Arts & Crafts Gallery, Picasso Ceramics and German Expressionism collection.

The museum is on a pretty walk called New Walk. This is nothing to do with Newarke (and neither of them are new!). Rare example of a Georgian pedestrian promenade, is a mile long, and lined with elegant period residences, 1820 onwards. Houses had to be at least ten yards from the Walk, fenced off by iron railings, and there was no access for carriages onto New Walk itself.

The Friends of New Walk launched a project to produce artworks in New Walk. They seem to have been successful! See the art sections on this website for more information.
