There is a traditional Turkish lace called Oya. This is not bobbin lace. The Turkish for lace was dantel (which comes from the French). Oya seems to be the name for trims (it comes from a Greek word for fringe or edge), and there were different techniques, including needle lace. Some people seem to think that "oya" is needle lace, but these pictures were labelled "oya", and they don't seem to be.

The owner of this lace (who was asking me what her Turkish lace might be) said "You are quite right about Oya - my mother-in-law has left an envelope with ‘oya' written on the front [with this piece in it]. I know that her mother and aunts made some of the lace but I think a lot was bought."
