This fringe can be used for any edge of lace. See pattern 433 for an example of a fringe on the edge of fans.

I suggest that you are confident with working the edge before trying a fringe.

Here are the complete instructions:

This just describes one stitch. When the lace is finished, the fringe will be a set of loops. You can leave them like that, or snip off the ends of the loops to make fringe like the photo above. Be careful with the fringe threads, as I suspect that you could pull them out quite easily.

You can alter the length of the fringe before working the pattern, by altering the fringe pins further or closer to the lace.
