This pattern was designed as a badge for a friend going on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The symbol of St James is the scallop. Pattern 43 was also designed for her.

This is nothing but a scallop headside, started along one edge and finished off at the other. The workers and the edge pair are coloured differently to show off the scallop ridges.
