Artist: Pieter Jacobsz. Codde
Dates of artist: 1599-1678
Nationality: Dutch
Pillow: domed, flat back, sloping towards lacemaker, on lacemaker's lap.
Bobbins: with bulbs on end, on pillow, not many bobbins
Comments: The pillow in this painting has a flat bottom, unlike the other lacemaker painted by Codde. The lacemaker must be resting her feet on something to get the pillow at the right angle, unless the artist has the body proportions all wrong. I like her hat!
Pieter Jacobsz. Codde painted more than one lacemaker.
