Manganite
Derivation:
From "magnesia" (Latin) because it looked like
magnetite
(natural magnets). Manganite is NOT magnetic.
Formula:
MnO(OH)
Description:
Black needle crystal. (The gleamy pink stuff is NOT manganite.)
An ore of Manganese. Manganese is used to make alloy steels. Steel is mostly iron, but has other metals such as Manganese in it.
