Abbey Park, St Margaret's Way, Leicester LE4 5AQ - Website - Abbey Park is north of the centre, between the river and the canal, and north of the river. These ruins are north of the river. First Bus 54 stops nearby.
Leicester Abbey was founded in 1138-9, dissolved in 1538 and demolished soon afterwards. Cardinel Wolsey is burried here.
In the later 16th century, the Hastings family converted the Abbey gatehouse into a mansion. It was burnt down in 1645, during the Civil War.
The Space museum and Abbey Pumping Station are fairly close.
