Bedfordshire mat
This mat has been worked in several pieces, joined with a crochet hook.
The headside is part twisted fan headside (or Cluny edge), then flowers with tally petals. Then cloth stitch and half stitch areas, with raised tallies on the half stitch. Things are joined with plaits. Then more bands with similar stitches, with a single flower with double tally petals in the middle.
This piece is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show part of it on the right. The entire piece is photographed below to show its shape.
