Bedfordshire lace - collar
This collar was bought on eBay. The seller's description was "Cluny bobbin lace design. It is made of soft 100% cotton thread, beige color with outside perimeter around the collar 28 ins, and inside perimeter around the neck 18 ins, width is 2¾ ins. Collar is finished with scalloped picot end." Stylistically, it is more likely to be Bedfordshire.
There are flowers with tallies petals, and other flowers with half stitch petals surrounded with gimps. There are cloth stitch areas with raised tallies on top. There are brides or plaits decorated with picots, and a nine pin headside. There is not a conventional footside, just a strip of cloth stitch.
This collar is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show about half of it above (but the pattern repeats). The entire collar is photographed below to show its shape.
