Tape lace collar
This collar was bought on eBay. The seller's description was "Vintage tape lace collar. Citca 19th century. Measuring 32 ins inside and 34 ins outside and 5 ins deep approx." I don't know if the date is accurate. This is mixed tape lace, as the tape was originaly straight, then folded or gathered to change direction, with the fillings added afterwards.
This is an odd shape. I hesitate to call it a collar, although it may have been adapted to make one. There is only one serious bend. One end looks entirely different to the other - in fact, one end looks cut off. The pattern varies along its length as well.
This collar is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show it in bits above. These bits overlap, by the way. The entire collar is photographed below to show its shape.
