Simple insertion

This could be used to extend the width of a more serious piece of lace. It would be sewn onto its footside.

This is a good imitation of a bobbin lace insertion, but various parts are made in a different way, which shows that this is machine lace.

This was in a sewing box of my aunt, Doris Dibblee (nee Mitchell), 1896-1968. I don't know where she got it.

Reasons why this is machine lace

Machine lace - footsides

At the edge, the threads coming in from the lace seem wrapped around a thicker thread at the edge of the lace.
