This is an attempt to make a pattern in the style of old Antwerp lace. I am not an expert in this field! This is connected with pattern 197.
Pattern:

Bobbins: 10 pairs
Style: Antwerp lace
Stitches:
cloth stitch and twist
cloth stitch
picot
Details:
Torchon ground (grey)
picots and passives headside (grey)
Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.
The shape (supposed to be a tulip's head!) is worked in cloth stitch, but it is nothing like a conventional Torchon shape, which tends to use the same worker pair throughout. Here, the worker pair go from one edge of the lace to the other, even making the picots at the edge. Since this means that the workers often travel horizontally, it can be hard to work out from the pattern which direction they are going on, so here is a diagram to help!

The shape is made partly through the fact that the worker and passive pairs are worked in cloth stitch (marked by the red area), and partly by a different pair, which winds round the outside of the shape, using Torchon ground stitches.
By the way, this pattern was worked in linen thread or flax, a traditional thread material. It is much like using cotton or polyester, except the thread seems a bit uneven.
