The grid is taken from a roundel - a circle with a hole in the middle. But it's only part of the roundel, so there is no problems in starting or finishing the lace. Really, it is just a straight piece of lace bent into half a circle. The main problem is that the bobbins will lie in different directions while making the lace. It's best to have a "cookie" pillow, if you can find one big enough. I used a block pillow, but the pattern must be carefully positioned on the blocks.
