If you have two units of triangle ground facing away from each other, you get a gap between them. This pattern uses that to make a wedding garter, threading a ribon through the gap. I'm not sure whether these colours are suitable for a wedding garter! But you can chose what you want, or only use 2 or even a single colour.
Pattern:

Bobbins: 16 pairs (2 red, 2 blue, 12 green)
Style: Torchon
Size: 5.5 inches long
Stitches:
half stitch
cloth stitch and twist
cloth stitch (red)
Details:
double Torchon ground (grey)
triangular ground (yellow)
scallop headside (blue and red)
Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace. There are large scallops on one side. On the other side, they are tiny scallops.
This lace is started and finished with an edge pair doing cloth stitch right across every other pair, then back again.

Close up of the lace, so you can see the working in more detail. The little loops by the ribbon belong to the ribbon rather than the lace!
