Effects within solid areas - both twisted

Solid areas are dense areas of lace, used as a contrast to the ground. Click here for different shapes available.

A solid area is worked in rows, with every stitch usually the same type. However, if the stitch is cloth stitch, it is possible to get an interesting effect by doing some cloth stitch and twist stitches. This example creates a cross. See pattern 451.

Both twisted

This is done both doing vertical twists in the top half of the diamond, then a row of horizontal twists in the middle row, followed by vertical twists in the bottom half of the diamond. Don't get confused!
