Bedfordshire mat

This mat was made of several pieces, joined with a crochet hook.

There is a scallop headsides with cloth stitch underneath. Plaits join this to butterflies, made of half stitch with raised tallies (this only shows on one side). There is a central flower with eight double tally petals.

This piece is too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show part of it on the right. The entire piece is photographed below to show its shape.
