Lace and cutwork table clothThis table cloth is about six foot six inches by five foot three inches. It is made of panels of cutwork, joined and trimmed with Bedfordshire lace (see right). The trimming has a nine pin headside with cloth stitch and half stitch underneath. There are flowers made of tallies. Legs decorated with picots join things. There is a twisted footside. The second piece is similar but is an insertion, without the headside. The other smaller insertion has half stitch, and tallies in a wheat ear pattern, again with plaits and picots. This piece is (much) too big to fit in my scanner (which is how I am reproducing the lace) so I can only show part of it on the right. Half of it is photographed below to show the pattern. |
