Torchon edgingI describe this as Torchon as it is geometric with Torchon elements, although the fans are non-standard. I suspect that it is machine made. There is Torchon ground. The headside are cloth scallops. However, the edge of the fan is more like a cloth fan, with workers twisted before edge pair. The edge has two trails of three pairs, which cross over. This produces the effect of holes. This is attached to the main part of the lace with horizontal passives and cloth stitch and twist workers. The footside is single twisted. Likely to be machine made. This was in a sewing box of my aunt, Doris Dibblee (nee Mitchell), 1896-1968. I don't know where she got it. | ![]() |
