Pattern of lace

The start is along a diagonal, so one pair starts at each pin, and two at the edge. Above, I have marked the position of the false pins.

The star is made of thin cloth zigzags. The outer and inner zigzag is coloured gold by using gold metallic thread as the worker pairs. The middle zigzag is coloured bronze in the same way. A wide variety of metallic threads is available, so choose the colours that appeal to you.

Most of the rest of the threads are white - I have used an iridescent white thread, with glints of other colours. Very bling, this star! You can choose something more tasteful if you prefer. However, I have made the inner pairs gold. These form the centre of the star, so I felt they should be the same colour. These stay either in the centre, or in the inner zigzag. The ground round the outside of the star is Bucks Point net. It is unusual to mix both types of ground in the same pattern, but I wanted the outside of the star to look different to its centre. The pairs right at the edge - the footside without passives - are twisted four times, to provide a strong edge.
