Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace. It may seem strange that the curving lines are merely zigzags, but I assure you - that is all they are! This circular grid makes straight lines into curves.

Pattern of lace

This pattern is really a straight edge bent round into circular shape by making the pin holes closer to each other on one edge (the circle centre) than the other. This means that the horizontal start is, in fact, a proper horizontal start with two pairs at each pin (except for the odd ones to left and right, and ignoring the passives in the headside, of course). One important point about the start - make sure that the four red worker pairs which colour the 'petals' of the flower start in the right place. There must be one red pair per zigzag. I have started them on the outer edge of the zigzag. You can start them elsewhere but it must be inside the zigzag, and the coloured pair then used as the workers, or the pattern will not work. Mostly, since the pattern is continuous, the workers stay in their cloth zigzags. However, the inner zigzags don't quite touch, so the worker pairs travel through the inner Torchon ground for a bit.
