Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.

This is closer to Pattern 479 than pattern 480. It is designed on a hexagonal grid.

Where cloth trails meet, the pairs in one trail are worked across all pairs in the other, in cloth stitch, except for the centre, where there are too many pairs! Here, the four pairs on each side stay on the same side, with a single worker pair binding all 12 pairs together.

Some of the pins either side of the cloth trails get used more than once, by the workers from different trails. If the pin is there already, then hook the pair of workers round it. This can be fiddly, so I suggest working the wheel more or less symmetrically on both sides, and from one side to the other.Otherwise you'll have to find the right pin when it's buried amongst lots of others. Not easy!

Here is a larger photo so you can see the detail.
