Description:
Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.
The curved shape is made from straight lines, arranged in a particular way - a know mathematical idea. In this description, the starting line is vertical, and the finishing line is horizontal. In this pattern, they are tilted. So pairs coming in from top left end up going out bottom left (after having worked through each other with cloth stitch and twist), and similarly pairs coming in from top right end up going out bottom right.
This makes quite a good large hole, which is fairly robust (although you can pull it out of shape). It could possibly be used for a ribbon, or mounted on card showing a picture through the hole.
