
This curve is made of threads crossing each other, starting at one straight line and ending at another at right angles.

The pairs start on the right. Starting from the top, each pair works through all the pairs below it. This means that the pairs reverse their order.
The working can be cloth stitch and twist or cloth stitch.
You can use this technique to make a large hole:

The pattern is tilted to fit inside a diamond area. Pairs coming in top left go out bottom left, and those coming in top right go out bottom right. See pattern 537.
