Description:

Follow the links above for explanation of how to work the different parts of the lace.

While designing pattern 92, I kept seeing wings in the circular grid that I was using. This was obviously a challenge, so I tried designing an angel. It only needed half the grid (which helps, as it means that you do not have to start in the middle of the mat, or finish by connected the end to the start). However, the start is not trivial. It uses false pins, as there is a diagonal start, and these are marked on the pattern. However, they are in strange places! Remember that a circular grid is a simple strip, bent round into a circle. So it is not a simple diagonal start, but rather two diagonals meeting at a point. So start at this point (to the top right of the pattern). Travel down both diagonals, adding more bobbins as required. Concentrate on the stitches connected with the pin holes closest to where you're working, and it will make sense! The pattern is finished in the same way. There are small pink dots to show where you tie off.

I think it looks like an angel with partly folded wings.
