The start is along a diagonal, so one pair starts at each pin, and two at the edge. The false pins are the last pins of the previous quarter. Hang the bobbins from these, then after working the first row in the first quarter, remove each false pin, and pull the thread through to remove the loop. Ignore the cross-overs of the rose ground near the edge. That does not apply to the start. It will be done as part of the last rose ground units at the very end of the pattern.

I designed this pattern and pattern 260 together, so see what would happen to the same pattern on a square grid or a circular grid. These patterns have identical stitches in identical order, with the same number of bobbins. The only distance is that this pattern has its corners squashed in and the middle of the edges pushed out, to make a circle. One problem is that this design favoured the square. There is a definite weakness with the rose ground edge, and the circle is trying to turn back into a square! Anyway, here are the two side by side, to compare.
