Pattern 353 - Gimp trees

Picture of lace

This uses a Winkie pin footside. This is a quick footside, easier than conventional footsides, and reduces the amount of pairs in the pattern. However, it is non-standard for Bucks Point.

Description:

Work the lace as described in the links above. Two gimps are wound as a pair. The other two are wound individually, so you have a loose end. Tie that in a slip knot, and hang it from the pin that way.

The description gives a Winkie pin twisted footside. This version has a gimp instead. That means that every time the worker pair goes through the passive, it is passing a gimp. So the order is, worker pair crosses the gimp, twist worker pair (I suggest several times), put the pin in between the worker pair and the gimp, worker pair crosses the gimp, and returns to the lace. There is no edge pair.

In the centre of the pattern, there are two gimps, who regularly cross each other to swap sides. I have coloured these gimps different colours to show what is happening.
