This turned into an exercise of how gimps wouldn't do what I wanted! The idea is that the honeycomb is the peacock tail, outlined by the gimps, and the head of the peacock is made by the same gimp, run up to the top of its head, round a stitch of honeycomb, then back again. I wanted to make a beak but didn't manage to! And the gimp didn't really make enough of an effect. It was a sparkly thread, but unfortunately too thin to show up well. For the final peacock, I used an extra two gimps, started at the highest stitch of the peacock's head and neck (which is one side of its head), then going all round the head (one gimp) and the body (the other gimp) and finishing off almost immediately. I'm not going to describe it in detail, because I don't think it worked!
