Description:

Read about vertical and horizontal edges to see how to shape the dogs.
Pattern 147 had a problem with the smaller dogs as the tail and ears were badly defined. Here, I have started an extra two pairs at pin which is the tip of the nose of the dog. These two pairs run right round the outside of the dog, one pair each side. They are treated just like the other passives in the solid cloth stitch which makes up the dog. But they help to bulk up the threads inside the dog, and also give a clean line surrounding the dog, so the ear and tail show better. The two pairs meet at the bottom of the dog (literally!), where they cross over and finish like normal gimps.
The other change in this pattern is that the ground is Bucks Point net, which I hoped would be a softer surround than Torchon ground,, and one less likely to mess up the shape. It does, perhaps, have other problems! The grid is Torchon (at 45°) rather than Bucks Point (at 60°), so the net doesn't look like normal.
